When I first wake up, I spend the morning reading my tweets. Jeffrey Zeldman made a great retweet: “Questions You Absolutely Must Ask Your Interviewer”.
When you’re looking for a job, you want to make sure the interview goes well. You want them to pick you. But do you want to pick them? Sure you’ve read their success in blogs or the news but do you really know what’s going on on the inside? You don’t typically hear the downfalls within an agency. As a developer, I realize how important it is to know what you’re getting into. For me personally, I love web development and it’s my passion, but the wrong environment can really make a job dreadful.
Forget the questions you read on job sites. These are even better questions to ask your prospective employer especially if you’re a developer/designer:
- How many clients has your company added within the last year? How many have you lost
- What has the employee turnover rate been within the last 24 months?
- What’s your company’s policy on work/life balance?
